News August 2 2009: Extreme race !
They all braved bad weather! The first round which had been the only one of the day took place in extreme weather conditions. Indeed in the summit on the Glacier of Plateau Rosa it was snowong a lot, but anything happende riders wanted to start. The start is given for the Maxiavalanche Europe Cup, then departure for the Maxiavalanche Ladies, and finally departure for the Maxi Promo. They are all in track under snow, then hail to finish to the arrival under the beating rain... but strangely all arrive smiling, while uttering screams of joy! The team of organization remains blocked at the summit because the gondola had no electricity ! The sky always menacing, the gondola still out of order, the decision was difficult to take but they could not leave for the second round.

It is therefore Franck PAROLIN (Rivierabike.com) that won itself, before Guillaume BRAUX (Sr Suntour - Vario) and Jordan REIGNIER. It is Anne Caroline CHAUSSON that won itself at the ladies before Estelle VUILLEMIN (rivierabike.com) and Nadia LATKA.

Quiet weather after the storm

The ice and rocks of the Grand cirque de Cervinia, just below the famous Matterhorn are the embodiment of the relationship between Mountain Biking and all that is vertical and sheer sensation. The course starts from the Rosa Plateau at 4.000 m, a rocky labyrinth which gives way to gravel before reaching the alpine pastures where the ancient track provides a view over the valley at every bend. Competitors can be sure of a warm welcome from the people of Aosta.
