The recipe for success of the Avalanche Cup of Fourviere due as much to the enthusiasm of thousands spectators and amateurs, as feats of balance and boldness that almost 300 riders deployed to clear obstacles.
The intensity of the race program, Qualifying, Final, Super Final, 4X, add to the ambience of the Expo and Team Area, accessible to visitors.
Saturday is devoted to racing rankings. Two rounds in the program to decide between the 300 participants. So it will be nearly 600 pass through in time trial to classify the winners and participants, following their categories.
Sunday, the first 100 at Scratch will compete the Super Final to appoint the winner of the Avalanche Cup Lyon and the top 32 will have the privilege of being selected for the 4X, which takes place in the afternoon for the apotheosis!
Aurélien Giordanengo (Mondraker Factory Team), double champion de France of 4X, the favorite because he is particularly fond the track of Fourviere and the formula of the weekend.
Two other French people will do their best to challenge that leadership: Fabien Cousinié (Black Mountain Morewood United Ride) and Thibaut Ruffin (Team Commencal Riding Addiction).
Olympic champion and multiple world champion in downhill, Anne-Caroline Chausson (IBIS), will delight his fans by performing his usual prowess to equal their male counterparts, to put the performance that she had obtained the 25th place overall 2010.

Qualifying races on saturday with 270 riders started to be among top 100 to race the Super Cup Sunday May 3rd. Aurélien GIORDANENGO (Ayton Giant les 2 Alpes) did the best time and he probably liked to be the leader ...
Sunday: Super Cup went good for almost all the riders ... only Nathan RENNIE (Kenda - Morewood) fall off his bike and lost precious seconds to be among top 32 to go forward. The Super Cup was pretty interested as the best riders started last and time went down so quick Sam HILL (Monster Energy - Specialized) did good but straigh after him Aurélien GIORDANENGO took the lead with 1'22"872 almost 2 seconds better than Saturday runs.

Aurélien Had really proved he was the leader, he won all his races to go to the final. Against him Fabien COUSINIE, Andrew NEETHLING (Trek World Racing) and Brendan FAIRCLOUGH (Monster Energy - Specialized).
Amazing race, Aurélien GIORDANENGO had been very good all the week end and deserve to win the 4X, second place for Fabien COUSINIE on third came Andrew NEETHLING and Brendan FAIRCLOUGH even if he doesn't like to pedal he did it 4th place.

Avalanche Cup Lyon: Team Monster Energy - Specialized Arrived on Thursday evening in Lyon. They just came back from USA where they did a photo shoot. A bit tired they chilled out Friday morning. In the afternoon when they arrived in the paddock all riders watched them as stars. Sam HILL, in France, last time it was for the Worlds Champs in Les Gets in 2004. So we are waiting for him this afternoon on the track for the show. Brendan FAIRCLOUGH, his first time in La Sarra, good luck to him ... Ils sont arrivés jeudi soir à Lyon. For the first time in France, the double world champion, the Australian Sam HILL will attend to the Avalanche Cup of Lyon la Sarra next 2nd & 3rd of May. He will be facing to the best international downhill riders as Fabien BAREL (FR) (Subaru MTB Pro Team), Andrew NEETHLING (RSA) (Trek), Nathan RENNIE (AUS) & Mitchel DELFS (AUS) (Gravity Group), his teammate Brendan FAIRCLOUGH (GB) (Monster Energy – Specialized – Mad Catz) and many others. The new leader of Monster Energy - Specialized - Mad Catz team would really give the best of himself to be up to the talent that we confer him. 24 YO, Sam HILL is regarding as the new prodigy that only Nicolas VOUILLOZ was named during his reign to the International circuit of downhill.
The new race format of the Avalanche Cup in Lyon with it new layout; more aggressive, more spectacular , with its qualifying runs the pressure goes bigger and bigger along the week end to the final 4X on Sunday afternoon. The festive features of that competition completely out of standard in the heart of one of the biggest European town add to the happiness of the public and amateurs cheering MTb stars, who won’t miss to be on Fourvière slopes the first week-end of May

Nathan RENNIE ascended the podium no less than 40 times and Mitchell DELFS, 15th overall WC 2008, team Gravity Group just confirmed that they will attend the Avalanche Cup Lyon race.
